A recent inspection by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has found significant safety and management issues with Leicester City Council’s housing. The council was given a C3 grade, indicating serious failures in how it manages its properties.
The report, issued on July 30, 2025, highlighted several major concerns:
- Approximately 70% of the council’s homes are overdue for mandatory electrical safety checks.
- The last time a full survey of the housing stock was completed was in 2009. This means the council doesn’t have an up-to-date understanding of the condition of its homes.
These failings mean the council is not meeting consumer standards and must take immediate action to improve its housing management and ensure tenant safety.
