The Derby City Council are carrying out a consultation regarding a proposed Private Landlords’ Charter.
As part of EMPO’s ongoing commitment to keeping members informed about local PRS developments, we would encourage landlords operating in Derby to review the draft document and consider providing feedback.
The proposed Charter is intended to outline landlords’ responsibilities and support the provision of safe, suitable and well-maintained accommodation for tenants across the city. It also explains the Council’s intended approach to enforcement of existing statutory housing standards and the action that may be taken where issues arise.
Whilst the consultation does not seek views on the legislation itself, Derby City Council is asking landlords and stakeholders to comment on the Council’s proposed approach and how the Charter presents these requirements.
Following the consultation period, the Council has advised that responses will be reviewed and considered before the Charter is finalised. Feedback will also be provided on any suggested amendments, including where recommendations are not adopted.
