Commencing in 2018, this is one of the largest schemes in the country and covers 26,000 homes. The initial scheme expired on 31 July 2023, and the second scheme began on 1 December 2023.
This scheme applies to privately rented properties within designated areas that meet specific criteria. Landlords must obtain a license for each property, with exemptions for certain properties managed by Housing Associations and Nottingham City Homes. There are also two other property licensing schemes in Nottingham for HMOs. If a property is already licensed under one of these schemes, a Selective Licence is not required. Fees for the Selective Licensing scheme starting on 1 December 2023 are as follows:
Individual Property Licence Fees
- Accredited (DASH, Unipol, ANUK): £665 per property
- Non-accredited: £887 per property
- Less compliant: £1,233 per property
