Legal Requirement

Did you know it’s a legal requirement to Notify any installation of Gas Fires or Boilers?

The purpose of Notification is to meet the requirements set out by Building Regulations rather than gas regulations. To help satisfy these requirements, Gas Safe Register offers engineers a facility whereby they can notify an installation through us and we then pass that data on.

In many cases the Gas Safe registered engineer will have completed the Notification to Building Control as part of the overall installation work, and this should normally be within 30 days of the appliance being installed. If the appliance has not been notified within this timescale then a consumer must either go back to the original installer or another suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer and ask them to ‘re-commission’ the appliance and then notify the installation. This is to ensure that the installation still complies with the manufacturer’s instructions and other industry guidance, ensuring that the appliance has been safely fitted.
